Barbara Kurland worked for Fairfax County Public schools in Northern Virginia for over thirty years. As a reading specialist and language arts staff developer, she impacted the literacy development of thousands of elementary school children. Her Reading Recovery™ training enabled her to help low-achieving first-graders meet and often exceed grade-level expectations in reading and writing. Throughout her career, Barbara regularly conducted teacher training workshops and parent reading strategies seminars. Barbara’s strong belief in the critical nature of parental involvement led her to create The Three P's Reading Improvement Program to help parents become skillful participants in their children’s literacy development. |
